1 out of 10 shall be an apprentice at Arkil PLC
Construction company Arkil PLC is preparing itself for the future battle for qualified workers, and therefore, attracting and retaining young employees is already an established part of the company.
Arkil PLC has set the objective that one out of ten employees in the plant department shall be an apprentice to ensure a greater quantity of qualified workers in the future. When using this not very well known education as a construction worker it can be difficult to attract young workers. "We looked at other areas, where we had succeeded and could see that one of the things that works is providing a contact person, who can give the young worker security and backing in a typically masculine culture within the construction industry," tells Section Director Jan Schmidt.
